(you can also read the PDF version of the newsletter)
GWRRA MA Chapter “F” - New Bedford - Fall River - Taunton Area -
Get togethers are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at the American le3gion hall
on Rt. 79 in
Berkley, Ma at 7PM
All chapter "F’s" get-togethers are NON-SMOKING Thank You!
The Meeting:
The meeting this month began at 7:10 pm with 30 members present.
Doc first mentioned the pride he had for those who were able to attend the MSF Experienced Rider Course.
Great job, Allan, Ray, Gerome, Tom, and also our director himself, Doc.
Bob Pacheco, who has been doing the Chapter web site for the past quite a few years is
stepping down to follow other interests and Roger Chartier has been gracious enough to
take on the responsibility of this undertaking.
Thanks, Bob for all you’ve done and also thanks to Roger for his commitment.
See under the director’s comments for a close look at this new site. Nice job, Roger.
The All Chapter picnic which is scheduled for June 28th has been finalized with all permits in hand.
Remember that our own chapter function (Poker Run) is set for July 26th and we need door prizes
and raffle prizes for this event.
Bring in what you can at the next meeting in June and then again for the July meeting if not done so already.
Cindy Arruda expressed her thanks for all the cards, etc in behalf of her father who passed away.
The meeting concluded at 8:30 pm with Ann Blandin winning the 50/50.
Director’s Comments
From the “Director’s Chair”…
Let me start by saying that I was honored to have my better half Robin at this month’s meeting!
It is the first time since we have been Directors that she has been able to attend a monthly meeting
due to a change in her work schedule.
I hope this is a permanent change for her, but you never know…
We met Claudia Cummings, Jim’s wife (we met Jim last month, and hopefully they can join us together next month).
We also met prospective members, Dave Newberry and Lee “Doc” Corwin, and welcomed back Dick & Cindy Arruda from their winter wonderland…
I offered condolences on behalf of the chapter and all of GW to Ernie Milot on the passing of his mother,
and extended our sympathies
once again to MarkAbdelnour for the loss of his mother as well. We have lost too many of our loved
ones lately (Deidra Tansey’s father as well)
and I hope we have reached the end of a very tough stretch for a while.
We had a “changing of the guard” if you will this month. It is with the utmost appreciation that
I thank Bob “Neons” Pacheco for his
longstanding dedication to Chapter F serving amongst
other jobs as our chapter webmaster.
Bob is enjoying his retirement and has diversified his interests and has decided to step down in
order to devote more time to his other “hobbies.”
Bob will remain active in the chapter and lead some of his favorite rides.
I cannot thank Bob enough for his generous service to Chapter F and GW over the years!
Our new webmaster is Roger Chartier. Roger has already taken the ball and run with it in
launching our new web site, http://www.gwrramachapterf.org
(officially being unveiled as of this newsletter).
He has set up a great interactive site with plenty of helpful information, links, and other hot topics.
Although the new site is in its infancy, Roger has done a super job in getting it off the ground (Thanks Roger!).
When you have a moment please go check it out…
Several members of our chapter, namely Allan Nunes, Ray Kirchdorfer, Gerome Vardaro, Tom White
and I were able to attend the
MSF Experienced Rider Course last weekend and all successfully passed.
It was a great learning experience and I highly recommend
the course to anyone who hasn’t taken it yet. You do indeed learn much from the course regardless of how “experienced” one
might think they are (and trust me, I learned much from my experience on the course).
My thanks to District Directors George & Gale Mayo, and District Ride Educator Sean McCarthy for setting up the course for us.
I am extremely proud of all that participated! J
Wednesday night ice cream rides, Sunday morning rides and Saturday night Plymouth gatherings are in full swing.
Check our ride schedule and get out and have some fun!
As everyone begins to get out and take advantage of the great weather, please remember to be safe above all else!
Let’s have a great riding season… J
Doc
Chapter F- Rider Educator: Allan Nunes
Allan’s tips for this month remind us to keep hydrated while riding.
It’s easy to forget that our bodies need liquid nourishment in the
form of water while riding in the heat.
Also be especially careful in turns and blind corners.
Be sure to keep on your side of the centerline in the road.

Humor or the Month
Two guys were roaring down a country road on a motorcycle when the driver slowed up and pulled over. His leather jacket had a broken zipper, and he told his friend, "I can't drive anymore with the air hitting me in the chest like that." "Just put the jacket on backwards," his friend advised. They continued down the road but around the next bend, they lost control and wiped out. Banta came upon the accident and ran to call the police. They asked him, "Are they showing any signs of life?" "Well," Banta explained, "the driver was until I turned his head around the right way!"
Happy Trails!!
